Yesterday, my longtime friend Javi came home. I told him about project Rubbish and he quickly felt attracted by the idea. After a long session of exciting brainstorming, we came up with lots of new concepts. I jotted down all of them.
For example, the need to make the game more offense-oriented, so that stalling is avoided. Team Fortress 2 achieves this by favouring attackers over defenders in subtle ways, like lowering respawn times or enhancing critical shots chance.
I think my brain is going to explode soon... So many ideas there, I just need to write them all down and juggle with them :-D
I've uploaded some music for the game. It's still work in progress, I still have to polish some sounds and make actual tracks out of those.

Engines started
This weekend, after checking the Ogre3d Recruitment Forum, I decided I have to let everyone know some more about what I have done in the past. I guess I need to write it so people can know who I am before joining me for anything. Anyway, I've updated my profile, the info is there if you wish to know it :-)
On a different matter, I've already started a prototype for project Rubbish. With it I pretend to show other people what I intend to achieve; a sort of sketch of the videogame. I will have it finished in 2 or 3 days. My Windows XP partition just crashed badly so I'll have to install it again... v_v
Meanwhile, I just created a SVN repository for the project, where I will upload all its progress. You can visit it if you wish, the doc with the concept is there for you to see.

Meet... Project Rubbish
Yup, that's the codename I've chosen for the project. Catchy, isn't it? ... Well, I suppose it doesn't say too much in favour of the game, but you'll see the why of the name in a while.
I've read many times that a good game should be able to be explained in just one sentence and remain attractive. Well, let's see what you think about it, there it goes:
I've read many times that a good game should be able to be explained in just one sentence and remain attractive. Well, let's see what you think about it, there it goes:
Groups of insignificant ragdolls gather junk in a dump and build robots to wack each other.
That's it. I don't expect you to imagine the rest of the game for yourself, so here's some more details.
That's it. I don't expect you to imagine the rest of the game for yourself, so here's some more details.
- RTS where you control little characters called kekos that wander around a dump environment.
- Kekos can basically gather junk, build machinery and mount those machines.
- Junk piles are the primary resource for building machines.
- Valuable components can be found by inspecting junk piles, which are required to build machinery.
- Everything in the game world can me moved and changed.
- Medium/fast paced tactical combat, not enforcing crazy attacks.
